Los Angeles household junk removal
Los Angeles junk removal services, from one couch to a whole garage
Not every job fits one page cleanly. A couch out of a back bedroom and a garage of boxes are different carries, but they land on different junk removal services in Los Angeles for the same house. Junk hauling is another name for the same work, so the right page is the one that fits what has to go rather than what the job gets called.

Which job fits your house
Furniture and mattresses
A sectional in the family room, or dining chairs stacked after a new set arrived. Furniture removal covers the carry out of upholstered pieces and chairs from the room they are in to the driveway. A sofa, a love seat, a chest of drawers, a wood table and the chairs around it, a bed frame, or a desk from a spare bedroom all sit on the same page. An old mattress with its box spring is on the mattress pickup page, with notes on the state's own program and the City's own bulky route for the resident to compare.
Appliances and yard
A replaced washer or dryer, a dead refrigerator or freezer, an older dishwasher that stopped running: appliance removal from a Los Angeles house picks up the carry out, and the City's metal appliance pickup is worth checking first for a household on City service, where LA Sanitation picks up large metal and household appliances at no extra cost.1 Bags of grass clippings, hedge trimmings and small prunings go on yard waste removal.
Cleanouts
Clearing a house after a parent passes or moves to care is an estate cleanout for a Los Angeles house; the family decides what is kept and what goes. A garage or attic that has stopped being anything but boxes is on the garage and attic cleanout page, with the carry out from the garage down the apron. The two pages are the small-and-whole-house pair: a parent's garage on its own goes on the garage page, and the whole house behind it goes on the estate cleanout page.
If you are not sure which page fits
Three details point at the right page: what has to go, where it sits in the house, and the way to the driveway. A single sofa and a half-garage of boxes are not the same job, and the mattress against a wall in the spare bedroom is a different pickup from a replaced refrigerator in the kitchen. What a removal is priced on runs the drivers that shape a job for a given house, and getting ready covers the short list of what to have in mind.

Check the City's pickup first
For the single-family residents it serves, LA Sanitation picks up large items that do not fit in the bins at the home, as an unlimited curbside service at no additional charge.2 Separate City pickups cover different kinds of items, each with its own page. The resident submits the request online, through the MyLA311 app or through the Customer Care Center.
The City's special pickups
LA Sanitation runs separate pickups for the households each serves, each with its own list.

Refrigerators and freezers, washers and dryers, dishwashers, air conditioners, and water heaters and standard heaters go on the Metal Appliance Pickup, at no extra cost1 for a resident on City service. The City's page tells residents to call about an item that is not listed but is mostly metal. Beyond that pickup, five locations open across the city for free one Saturday a month from 8am to 4:30pm2 as a monthly bulky item drop-off. The step-by-step guide to the City's bulky pickup covers the request itself from the resident's side.
Houses, driveways and garages in Los Angeles
Detached houses make up about 36 percent of the city's housing units,3 and about 37 percent of households in the city live in a detached house.4 A removal from a house moves through a driveway, a front walk and the opening of a garage door: the dining chairs come out through the house, the garage of boxes comes out from the garage, and the yard bags come down the apron. A furniture carry out uses the same path as the open garage door and a swept driveway.

What this site does not cover
Household hazardous waste is not on this list. Residents drop it off themselves at permanent S.A.F.E. Centers, which accept it free of charge up to 15 gallons or 125 pounds per visit, with the address where the waste originated requested at drop off.5 The S.A.F.E. Center guide covers what to have in the car.
Building and remodel materials are outside this list. Nonfunctioning cathode ray tubes and mercury bulbs from televisions, laptops, tablets and monitors are hazardous waste in California's wording.6 The shape of this junk removal business for Los Angeles houses and the two names for the same work sit on their own pages. For a household with pieces to send out, (818) 533-6275 is the business number.
